FAQ

Common questions.

What is energy transition executive search?

It's retained search for the leadership roles that decide whether an energy transition business actually executes. CEOs, Chairs, and the functional heads underneath them. Net Zero Search has worked exclusively in this space since 2010, and every mandate is run by a Managing Partner rather than a research team.

How is energy transition executive search different from general executive search?

The candidate pool is smaller and the credibility bar is higher. A generalist search firm can source broadly for a CFO but will not know your sector. E.g. Finding a CFO who has actually raised Project Finance or dealt with Tax Equities or a Merchant trading model for a renewable energy IPP is a different exercise, and it's the one we specialise in.

How quickly can Net Zero Search deliver a shortlist?

Two to four weeks to a first shortlist, on average, and 98% of our retained searches are filled rather than quietly dropped.

Which markets do you cover?

North America, UK, Europe, Middle East and APAC, for both investors and operating companies. Where the mandate sits, one of our Managing Partners covers it personally rather than passing it to a regional office.

What's the difference between retained and contingent search for energy transition roles?

Retained search means one firm is engaged exclusively, paid in stages, and accountable for the outcome. Contingent means several agencies are racing for the same brief and only get paid if they win, which often produces a low quality service to client and candidate. We only work retained.
